Murphy’s St. Patrick’s Day River Parade and Festival
Where: 418 Villita Street and along the downtown River Walk
When: Friday from 2:00-9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 12:00-9:00 p.m.

What: This is the biggest and most popular St. Patrick’s day event in San Antonio. Start by transforming the River Walk into the River Shannon with plenty of green dye, and then explore the booths and shops sporting St. Patrick’s Day goodies along the river. Come back on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. (come early for a good spot!) to see 14 St. Patrick’s Day floats full of bagpipers, Irish dancers, drummers, Kelly singers, and more. After the parade floats by, enjoy live music and performances, Irish food, and plenty of delicious Irish beer.
Durty Nelly’s Irish Pub

What: If you want a fun place to go after watching the parade, there’s no better place than Waxy O’Connor’s. Your taste buds will be delighted.
The Irish Pub

What: If you want to get away from the downtown crowds, head over to The Irish Pub for a neighborhood experience. It is tucked away near the medical center, so it has been able to remain a small and friendly spot to get good drinks and food. Harp & Shamrock Music Festival
Where: Arneson River Theater in La Villita
When: Saturday from 12:00-9:00 p.m.

What: If the bar scene isn’t really your thing, take advantage of the live music festival being put on by the Harp & Shamrock Society of Texas. You can enjoy watching singers, dancers, bagpipers, and other musicians show off their skills and Irish pride all day long. Believe us, it’s something you don’t want to miss.
