Whether you’re looking for a great happy hour spot, a place for dinner, or somewhere to hang out on the weekend, you want a bar or restaurant with a great margarita. You don’t care if it’s a cadillac, fruit flavor, or classic margarita as long as it’s fresh and delicious. Here are five or our favorite spots for margaritas in San Antonio.
Chacho’s
Where: 6757 Poss Road, San Antonio, Texas 78238
Distance From The Place at Shadow Valley: 0.8 miles
What: Chacho’s is a small, crowded restaurant with delicious Mexican food and even better margaritas. It hits almost every review site for the best margaritas, and commenters tell readers not to be turned off by the line or margarita machine. The margaritas are frozen, strong, and super tasty.
La Fogata Mexican Cuisine
Where: 2427 Vance Jackson Road, San Antonio, Texas 78213
Distance From The Place at Oak Hills and Castle Hills: 3.9 miles
What: La Fogata is so confident in their margaritas that they have a separate tab on their website that talks all about them. They serve just about any kind of margarita you can think of (on the rocks, frozen, salted, with sangria, flavored, and over sangria), and they’ve stirred up more than 1.5 million of them over the last 30 years. You can’t argue with those numbers.
Rosario’s
Where: 910 South Alamo Street, San Antonio, Texas 78205
Distance From The Place at Houston Street: 7.7 miles
What: This Mexican restaurant has won numerous awards for being one of the best local restaurants in San Antonio. While you can drink a traditional or top-shelf margarita, their customers love the Pica Pica margarita, which has cucumber and jalapeno, and the La Tuna margarita, which contains prickly pear juice. This is a great spot to try something new.
The Fruteria
Where: 1401 South Flores Street #102, San Antonio, Texas 78204
Distance From The Place at Houston Street: 8.1 miles
What: This restaurant was created by Top Chef winner Johnny Hernandez. He serves both classic and infused margaritas that San Antonians can’t get enough of. Stop by for happy hour to get $5 classic or $6 infused margaritas. At this price you can even try more than one!
The Esquire Tavern
Where: 155 East Commerce Street, San Antonio, Texas 78205
Distance From The Place at Houston: 9.9 miles
What: It may be just a little further away from our properties, but it’s worth it to head to the oldest bar on The River Walk. Try the Nuestra Margarita that is a delicious mix of blanco and reposado tequila, triple-sec, key lime, and salt. Yum!
