When you think of summer, what comes to mind first? Is it the hot, hot heat that pools around you and covers you like a blanket? Or the brisk summer evenings where your stress sizzles out to nothing? Or how about just the idea of having a cold beer with some friends and just having a good time? Yeah, it’s the same for me too.
But listen, I want to take that thought a step further. Did you know that San Antonio is known for having some of the most amazing local breweries in the state? They’re brewing out some of the most delicious craft beers that are sure to help you achieve peak summer enjoyment.
There’s also the added bonus that many of the local breweries around here? They offer FREE tours. (And sometimes free samples.) So if you’re looking for a fun summer activity, or even just want to open up your taste buds and expand your beer library- you should grab the team, and check out one of these local breweries:
Busted Sandal – With their 5-year Anniversary Party coming up this August 25th, Busted Sandal Brewing is a definite must stop on the San Antonio Brewery list. This brewery is dedicated to bringing an original and unforgettable experience for you and your friends. Stop by on Wednesday – Friday from 4:30 – 10, Saturday from 12 to 10, or Sunday from 12 to 6, and the Busted Sandal is down to offer you a pint, flight, free tour, or even just a beer to take home. (They’re also pet friendly, so you can bring your pup with ya to join in on the fun!) Located at 7114 Oaklawn Drive, this place is only 10 minutes away from all of our San Antonio MC Life Communities!
Freetail Brewing – Freetail Brewing is known for their events calendar. You looking for something to do this summer? What about Beer Yoga, or Movie Nights- heck, they’ve even got DJ’s and Food Trucks lined up for your enjoyment. You can go on their website to request a private tour for you or your group of friends- they do, however, ask for a 7-day notice, so that they’re prepared for your arrival. Stop by and visit them Monday – Saturday 11 to Midnight and Sundays Noon to Midnight! You won’t regret it!
Alamo Beer Co – A fan favorite here in San Antonio, Alamo Beer Company is known for its selection. Beers on beers on beers. Are you ready for that challenge? Every Thursday the Alamo does Beer, Bacon and Bingo- which sounds absolutely incredible, am I right? Their Beer Hall is open Monday – Thursday 3 to 9, Friday 3 to midnight, Saturday 12 to Midnight and Sunday 12 to 9, which means you have ample opportunities to stop in for a visit. Located at 202 Lamar Street, it’s a quick 20-minute drive from our MC Life Communities. Contact them directly for tour opportunities!
Ranger Creek Brewing & Distilling – They’re award winning here, guys. They get props on not only their beer but also their whiskey. I’ve heard amazing things about their Love Struck Hefe beer and Oatmeal Pale Ale. You can book a tour and tasting online for any Saturday for you and your friends to enjoy. Their tasting room is open on Fridays from 5 to 9, Saturdays from 2 to 9 and Sundays from 12 to 4! Check out Ranger Creek today and get your drink on!
Blue Star Brewing – If you’re looking for a good side helping of entertainment with your beer, Blue Star may be the perfect stop for you! They have Jazz Nights that will get your toes tapping, and offer a whole heaping helping of different events that you can find on their website or facebook. Also, if you’re a Spurs fan, which- of course you are, they offer a complimentary ride to the game for their guests during every home game. (You gotta check out the details and the Blue Bird Bus on their website. Too cool.) So stop by for some food and drinks and talk to any of the master brewers about their choice selection of drinks and touring opportunities!
