It’s that time of year again. Spring is calling for you to hit the road and see all of what Texas has to offer. As an update to our road trip post from last year, we’ve picked out five new places you should go for spring road trips in Texas.

Stop to Smell the Bluebonnets in La Grange

Distance from San Antonio:111 miles (2 hours)

Why: Springtime in Texas means bluebonnets. As the state flower, bluebonnets are an important piece of Texas’ culture and history. Native Americans used the flowers as a natural medicine and claimed they were spiritual messengers, and Spanish priests used to grow them outside of their missions, which is why many people believe these flowers originated in Spain even though they are Texas natives. It’s not difficult to find bluebonnets throughout Texas, but if you want to find them in the wild, all you have to do is drive the Texas highways. This spring take a road trip up I-10 from San Antonio to La Grange to see hills and hills of Texas’ special bluebonnets.
