The holiday season is almost here which means spending time with family, Christmas shopping, twinkling lights and the celebration of annual traditions. If you’re looking for things to do with friends and family, there is a lot happening this November and December around San Antonio. Santa’s Ranch

When: Nov. 6, 2015 – Jan. 2, 2016
Where: New Braunfels, Texas (9561 I-35 North New Braunfels, TX 78130)
What: Grab the family and head over to Santa’s Ranch, a drive-thru Christmas Light Park. It is just 30 miles south of Austin on the 1-35 and features over 1 million lights and 100 displays and animations. Plus you can enjoy it from your car, so buy some hot chocolate and kettle corn when you enter the park, and enjoy as you drive through. Tickets are issued per car and can be used for one night or all season.

Ford Holiday River Parade and Lighting Ceremony

When: Nov. 27, 2015 (7pm – 9pm)
Where: San Antonio Riverwalk
What: The Ford Holiday River Parade in Lighting Ceremony kicks off the holidays along the San Antonio Riverwalk. Bring your whole family down to watch as 28 decorated float go through the river in this unique nighttime parade. The trees along the Riverwalk, and the bridges, will be illuminated with thousands of lights. This special event highlights a San Antonio landmark and will help all ages get into the festive spirit.

What: Get into the festive spirit at A Holiday Fair “DIY†to Remember. Come on down to the Wonderland of the Americas for shows, activities, costume contests, an ugly sweater contest, plus arts and crafts, free carnival games and more!

Christmas in Comfort

Where: Historic District of Comfort Texas
What: Head to nearby Comfort Texas for Comfort in Texas. It is a full day of arts and craft vendors, shops, food, live entertainment, a festive parade and even a visit from Santa! Christmas Wonderland at Milam Park

When: Nov. 28, 2015 (12pm – 6pm)
Where: Milam Park (501 W Commerce St, San Antonio, TX 78207)
What: Christmas Wonderland at Milam Park is a day-long festival that will get you into the holiday spirit. This is a family friendly event that includes train rides, face painting, a variety of children’s activities, mariachi bands, plus a tree lighting ceremony and a visit from Santa! Admission is FREE!

The Nutcracker

When: Dec. 4-13, 2015
Where: Tobin Center for Performing Arts
What: Ballet San Antonio presents the holiday classic “The Nutracker†this December. Be whisked away by beautiful song and dance as this well-loved story comes to live on stage. You can purchase tickets online for daytime and evening shows. The performance is all ages and children will be entertained by the holiday magic.

Hands on Chanukah

When: Dec. 1, 2015 (3pm – 6pm)
Where: PJ Library
What: This hands on family event teaches children about Chanukah with books, activities and more. It is a fun, cultural event for all ages.

Ford Holiday Boat Caroling

When: Dec 2 – 20, 2015 (6:15pm – 8:30pm)
Where: San Antonio Riverwalk
What: Come down to the San Antonio Riverwalk during December to watch as groups of boats travel down the river singing holiday songs and traditional carols. There are over 185 school, church, company and civic choral groups performing throughout the month. This event is free and allows you to take in the sounds of the season while strolling the twinkling banks of the Riverwalk.

Holiday Gift Market at the Pearl

Where: The Historic Pearl (303 Pearl Pkwy, San Antonio, Texas 78215)
What: The well-loved Holiday Gift Market at Pearl is the perfect place to find wonderful local and handmade products. It is a great way to find unique holiday gifts for your loved ones. There will be various vendors setting up pop-up tents along Pearl Parkway selling holiday gifts like soaps, artisan chocolate and more. Admission is free! Enjoy shopping while supporting local businesses and vendors.

A Wonderland Christmas

When: Nov. 27 – Dec. 23, 2015
Where: Morgan’s Wonderland (5223 David Edwards San Antonio, TX 78233)
What: Head to Morgan’s Wonderland on your weekends to A Wonderland Christmas for incredible light displays, a petting zoo, fun amusement rides, a visit with Santa Claus, live music and more. All ages are welcome and can enjoy a variety of activities, shows and festive things to do.

Winter Wonderland

When: Dec. 5-31, 2015
Where: DoSeum (2800 Broadway San Antonio, Texas 78209)
What: The DoSeum, San Antonio’s Museum for Kids, is transformed for Winter Wonderland this December. There will be public programs including a multicultural holiday celebration, reverse Santa’s engineering workshop, and more. The DoSeum is both educational and fun for families!

Tamales! Holiday Festival at Pearl

When: Dec. 5, 2015
Where: The Historic Pearl (303 Pearl Parkway, San Antonio, Texas 78215)
What: Come to Tamales! Holiday Festival at Pearl and great ready to sample tamales from over 40+ different makers, as well as desserts, children’s activities, dancing and live music. It is an all ages holiday foodie festival.  The event is free and open to the public but individual vendors will be charging between $1.00-$5.00 for food and beverages.

Santa’s Railroad Wonderland

When: Dec. 5-20, 2015
Where: Texas Transportation Museum (11731 Wetmore Road San Antonio, Texas 78247)
What: The Texas Transportation Museum presents: Santa’s Railroad Wonderland. Families are welcome to spend an evening with nighttime train & hay rides, festive miniature train displays, and a cheerful visit from Santa Claus.

URBAN-15’s Holiday Laser Show

When: Dec. 8, 2015
Where:  Lila Cockrell Theater (200 E Market St, San Antonio, TX 78205)
What: You’ll be blown away by the holiday-themed laser show at the Lila Cockrell Theater. URBAN-15’s Holiday Laser Show features lasers, light effects, and 3d Animation to your favorite carols. It is a bright, colorful and exciting celebration of the holiday season.

Elf: Cinema on the Plaza

When: Dec. 11, 2015 (8:00pm)
Where: Tobin Center for the Performing Art (115 Auditorium Cir, San Antonio, Texas 78205)
What: Bring a blanket and the whole family for a free, outdoor screening of the well-loved holiday film Elf, staring Will Ferrell. There will be concessions on site so you can enjoy drinks and snacks while you watch the film. It’s a great way to enjoy a holiday film, the cool weather, and get into the festive spirit.

Winter Celebrations Around the World

When: Dec. 13, 2015 (12pm – 4pm)
Where: Institute of Texan Cultures
What: Admission is FREE to the Winter Celebrations Around the World event at the Institute of Texas Cultures. See traditional holiday displays from 15 different countries from around the world and see how other cultures celebrate this time of year. There will also be hands-on activities like paper lanterns, piñatas, coloring pages and holiday cards. Plus the troupe from Our Lady of Guadalupe church will be performing a traditional Mexican Pastorela morality play. If you come to the event, bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the San Antonio Food Bank.

Celebrate San Antonio

When: Dec. 31, 2015
Where: Downtown San Antonio
What: The San Antonio Parks Association wants you to ring in the New Year, San Antonio style! Bring the whole family to enjoy a spectacular fireworks show, live music, food from local vendors, family activities and much more. Celebrate with the rest of San Antonio as we welcome a new year!
